UNSTOPPABLE ROLLUP

Why Matrix is unstoppable

Why Matrix is unstoppable

All data lives on L1 — nothing can be deleted, paused, or turned off

Most rollups depend on a sequencer that executes, orders, and publishes transactions.
If the sequencer shuts down, gets hacked, or censors transactions, the entire network becomes unusable.

Facet works the opposite way:

  • Every user transaction is submitted as calldata to the L1 Inbox contract (0xbbbb1).

  • Matrix L2 clients simply read the calldata from L1 and reconstruct the chain.

  • No sequencer. No off-chain data availability layer. No trusted intermediary.

This means:

  • If BNB Chain is live → Matrix is live.

  • L1 cannot erase data → Matrix’s history is permanent.

  • L1 cannot censor users → Matrix inherits censorship resistance.

Even if every Matrix node disappears, anyone can recreate the full chain simply by replaying L1 data.

This is the definition of “unstoppable.”

Gas Mined

Matrix generates its L2 gas directly from calldata transactions submitted on BNB Chain L1. When a user sends a transaction to the L1 Inbox and it is successfully mined, the corresponding execution requirement on Matrix L2 produces the gas mined that powers computation and state transitions.

This gas has no supply limit and is not part of any economic model. It exists purely as technical fuel for the execution layer, without speculative value or market-driven behavior.

Because gas is mined from L1 activity, users do not need to bridge separate L2 gas tokens. This significantly reduces reliance on cross-chain bridges and eliminates the operational and security risks they typically introduce.

This lightweight mechanism provides:

  • Stable and predictable execution costs

  • No exposure to market volatility

  • No speculative or accumulation dynamics

  • A simpler and safer user experience without gas bridging

Through gas mined, Matrix delivers a reliable and always-available execution layer driven entirely by L1-confirmed activity.
